Caring for Your Arrowhead Equipment Quilt
A little care between trips helps keep your top quilt or underquilt ready for the next adventure. Clean it when needed, let it dry completely, and give it room to loft when you’re storing it at home.
Light Cleaning Between Trips
Shake off loose dirt and debris. For small spots, lightly dampen a soft cloth with clean water and gently wipe the affected area.
Our fabrics have a durable water-repellent finish, commonly called DWR. This helps resist surface moisture, but it does not make your quilt waterproof.
Let any damp areas dry completely before packing the quilt away.
When Your Quilt Needs a Thorough Cleaning
We recommend Nikwax Tech Wash for cleaning our synthetic-insulated quilts. Follow the cleaner’s directions. We prefer hand washing in a large tub or plastic tote over machine washing. If you’re unsure about the washing method for your particular quilt, contact us before starting. We’re happy to help you work through it.
After cleaning, air-dry the quilt completely before packing or storing it.
Air Out Your Quilt After Every Trip
Unpack your quilt when you get home and give it time to air out in a dry, well-ventilated place.
Allow 24–48 hours as a starting point, and longer if the quilt is damp or conditions are humid. Drying time varies—check that the quilt is completely dry rather than relying on the clock alone.
Store It Loose Between Adventures
Use your compact stuff sack for travel. At home, give the insulation room to loft.
A large breathable storage sack, a roomy pillowcase, or loose storage in a closet works well. Avoid leaving the quilt tightly compressed in its trail stuff sack or a dry bag between trips.
Always check that it is completely dry before putting it into long-term storage.
