NEW RIVER UNDERQUILT - 4 SEASON |
"To Paul and the Arrowhead Crew,
I wanted to thank you for introducing me back into hammock camping. I always loved the comfort of sleeping in a hammock. But working as a backcountry professional meant a quick setup and lightweight package were crucial. So I went back to tarp camping. Now, hammocks like my new Warbonnet Blackbird are lighter than ever. And the simple genius of Arrowhead's Marlinspike Whopie Sling suspension system allow me to setup my hammock in under 1 minute.
A great example of the genius in your system came while I was covering this year's Desert RATS, a 150 mile adventure ultramarathon that runs along the Kokopelli Trail from Fruita, Colorado to Moab, Utah. Despite being in the desert, I found a hang for my hammock every night, and slept like a baby. Cool and bug free.
Thanks again,
Rob Worthing, MD FAWM

PS - I set up my colleague with the same hammock system for covering an adventure race in the Amazon. I'll let you know how it goes!"
I have purchased both a 6 foot New River, and a White Cloud for my 6' frame. Both are 3 season. I have to say they performed above expectation. I recently did a 3 day stint in Utah's Uintah range. Day 1 brought sideways rain, and hail. I thought we had kept under the Shangri la tarp, but we were double hammocks under there, and both had some side wet. I also found I was actually holding water inside, when i went to get in that night, I sat into a puddle. I was concerned, tipped out the water, and got ready for a cold night. It didn't happen. Temperatures were around 33 degrees, I was warm, and the whole rig had dried itself out overnight. The next night was only down to 40 degrees, and without the water, it was too warm for the top quilt. Never had such a night in those mountains.

The Toxaway Tarp served me well on our recent packrafting expedition in Northern BC.

The night I was out there were wind gusts up to 30 mph and there was a clear difference in having the BBO on vs off. I'm really happy with it.
Thanks, C" Even my friends dog loves my New River under quilt!
I ordered a hammock bag the first day of the Memorial Day Sale and it shipped to Newfoundland, Canada very quickly. I asked a few questions regarding the size bag I should use for my hammock and I had an answer in minutes via Pm.

Paul is great, I have ordered from him on numerous occasions. Each order had been a smooth transaction, a great product and great customer service. In fact he recently helped me out with a specialty item, he was fast to respond, and very helpful in guiding me in it creation and making sure that it will meet the task I am asking it to preform. I can't wait to get my hands on it. My hat is off to you Paul, you do a great job.
Ridge Creek at Rae Lakes. The temp dropped down to 28 degrees. But the UQ kept me constantly warm all night, even under the stars with no tarp. Great under quilt!
Another big thumbs up for Paul! I ordered new whoopie slings and chain links during the rush of the sale, and even with me accidentally putting in the wrong zip code still got them within a week! My wife was so impressed with the service that she gave me the "ok" to put in another order today for some new tree huggers
I ordered a set of tree straps and whoopie slings from Paul and got a confirmation that he received my order, got the stuff within a week, shipped to my house with tracking and a hand written note, THATS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, good ol fashion customer service.
Thanks Arrowhead for the kick ass quilt. Kept me warm during Cheat River Fest. |
"Hey Paul -
I got to try out the top cover on the Northern Hang and I give it two thumbs up. It worked great. I definitely noticed the extra warmth and I had no condensation whatsoever. We had 21 degrees and snow on the second night and I think the top cover gave me that little extra boost of warmth to keep me comfortable.
Thanks again for the great product and service."

I got to try out my 3s potomac underquilt over the weekend and I couldn't be happier with it. The second I laid down I could feel the heat building. I was toasty warm at 40° in intense wind and know it could go much lower and I got some of the best sleep i ever had with this setup and I like it more then my bed at home. I will be testing the limits this winter at Mt Shasta. My gear list was. Hennessy expedition deluxe, hex tarp, potomac 3s underquilt, homemade 20° overquilt and my homemade atlas straps.
